Having Problems Building Up Your Photography Business? Try A Retirement Community

If you are a photographer and just starting your new business, it can take time to build it up. To gain more customers, you need to show your photography skills in a variety of places. One place that can work well is a retirement community. Below are some tips on how you can do this. Visitors When you take photographs of the seniors at the retirement community, ask them if they will display the pictures in their home. If they do this, the family and friends that visit them will see them. If they like the photographs, they may come to you asking you to take pictures of them and their family members. This is a great way to build up your business, as if everyone is happy with your photographs, it creates a snowball effect. This means when one person is happy, they recommend you to someone else, then that person recommends you to someone else, and so on. Take pictures in a variety of settings, such as inside their home, as well as a beautiful area on the retirement community property, such as a garden area that has a bench. To make pictures look their best, use a high gloss photo paper. This type of photo paper is shiny, and the colors are more rich and vibrant, which makes the photo more eye catching. Advertising To further help your business, give each senior that you photograph a business card. You could also create flyers for your business. Put images of the pictures you have taken on the flyer. Talk with the person in charge of the retirement community to see if you can leave your business cards and/or flyers in a certain area where people will see them. You could offer to take their picture for free if they let you do this. Website Most companies today have a website, and the retirement community likely has one too. Talk with the owner to see if they sell advertising space on their website. This can be very beneficial if the retirement community is a large one or one that is widely popular. Some types of advertising space you could purchase includes: Logo with a tag line: Your logo, along with a link to your website, is generally placed somewhere on the retirement community’s home page. Full page: If you want to spend more money, you could purchase a full […]

A Guide To Buying The Right Picture Frame

Picture frames are used for both displaying pictures and safeguarding them against damage. The right picture frame can add both personalization and character to the photo or piece of art it is displaying. Picture frames are available in a wide range of materials with some of the more common choices being plastic, metal, or wood. When shopping for picture frames, there are a lot of things to consider to make sure you get the right frame for your needs. Picture Frame Size One of the biggest things to consider when shopping for picture frames is the size. Do you need a 3×5 or a 22×28 frame? Deciding on the right size is as simple as asking yourself what you are putting in the frame. For example, 3×5 is ideal for small pictures, 4×6 is ideal for medium sized pictures, and 22×28 is ideal for poster sized pictures. Exploring Different Types of Photo Frames After choosing the right size frame, the next decision is choosing the right type of frame. A few examples of different types of frames include shadowboxes, float frames, and digital frames. Shadowbox Frames: A shadowbox frame is a very deep box that has a glass covering on the top. This type of frame is hung upright just like a traditional picture frame. It is very common for this type of frame to display more than one picture or a picture and a related object next to the picture as some sort of collage. This type of frame protrudes from the wall, so it is not ideal for all spaces. For example, a hallway without much walking space wouldn’t be ideal for a frame that protrudes from the wall. Float Frame: Just as the name suggests, a float frame is a frame that is designed to appear as if it is floating in the air. Like the shadowbox frame, this frame also protrudes from the wall and is not ideal for all spaces. Digital Photo Frame: A digital photo frame is actually a screen that displays digital images instead of physical photos. It cycles through several images as if you are viewing a slideshow. The last decision to make before you purchase your picture frame is whether you want the frame to be made out of metal, plastic, or wood. Metal frames are extremely durable, plastic frames are lightweight, and wood frames are available in just about every […]

How To Share Your Vacation With People Who Stay Behind

If you have the opportunity to go on vacation, there is a good chance that you still will leave someone important to you behind. It might be family members, close friends, or even your house sitter that you want to experience some part of your trip with you. If this is the case, there are a few easy things you can do to show them that you missed them while you were away. 1. Bring back a gift If you have the budget and can afford a few simple things, nothing says that you were thinking of someone while you were away more than bringing back (or sending before you go home!) a small token from your vacation. This can be as simple as a local treat (make sure that it doesn’t violate customs, won’t melt, and won’t go bad before it can get to them), shells from the beach, a keychain or small piece of jewelry, or any other small item that can show where you went and that you wish they had been able to be with you while you were gone.  2. Send a custom postcard If you like to take pictures of your trips, consider going to a print shop and having a postcard of some pictures from the trip made that you can send home to your family members and friends. While any postcard is fun, a picture of you and your traveling companions in front of a castle, eating dinner at a fancy restaurant, or relaxing at the hotel’s pool can share a piece of your vacation of both a snapshot of some of the fun you are having, but also you can write a nice note about your trip and anything you would like to tell them. Most postcards are not very expensive to make on paper by Total Reproductions Inc or a similar company, and it makes a great reminder of the trip for you and the people you send it to.  3. Video chat from your location With data plans and smart phones, you can almost have people on your vacation without them being there. If you’re about to go on a ride at an amusement park, you can video chat the line and your surroundings (or even hold your phone on the ride if it’s not against the rules and it’s not too wild!), or you can video chat a […]

3 Ideas For Promotional Stickers

People, including adults, love stickers. They will be willing to put stickers that they deem interesting or cool on the back of their smartphones and laptops, on their notebooks, and even on their bicycles and cars. Any business would be crazy to pass up the chance to be able to take advantage of this free advertising. In order to make the most of this opportunity, you need to print stickers that will appeal to people in their twenties and thirties enough to put them on their personal possessions: 1. Draw on Pop Culture Try to draw on pop culture in your brand. Examples of this are taking advantage of the current popularity of superhero movies to create a sticker with your logo that resembles something that a well-known superhero uses, such as a circular shield or a hammer. Another example would be to copy a similar style and a popular indie band uses for their album covers. You can do both of these ideas without infringing on copyright law as long as you don’t make them too similar. You want to evoke the thought of whatever it is you are trying to emulate, not slavishly copy it. 2. Make Them Three Dimensional Another cool idea is to make your stickers three dimensional. The most common example of this is to make them puffy, or to make certain elements of your design slightly elevated. A person who has this sticker should be able to push a small indentation into the raised part of the sticker and have it bounce back within a minute or two. These stickers will draw interest and cause people to want to put them somewhere public to display them, or at least so that they can play with them while they are bored in class or at work. The puffy sticker design works best if your design includes clouds. 3. Use Glitter Finally, don’t be afraid to use glitter liberally. People like shiny stickers because they reflect light and draw attention to whatever the sticker is applied to. They also tend to make the sticker more durable because they add an extra layer of protection and stiffness. This will make any money that you spend on the stickers go further.  For more ideas on promotional stickers, talk to a company that specializes in printing services. They will either have a graphic designer on team or be able […]

Needed The Help Of Screen Printing In Toronto For Custom Grocery Bags

When we were thinking of gifts that we could give to our clients, we came up with the idea of reusable grocery bags. Since it is becoming more popular to bring your own reusable bags to the grocery store instead of using plastic or paper ones, we thought it would be a great idea to give away reusable grocery bags with our company’s logo on them. That way, our clients would be reminded of us on a weekly basis, everytime they went to the grocery store. When researching how to make them, it seemed like the best way would be to go to a company that did screen printing in Toronto for the printing of the logo and to buy the grocery bags in bulk online. Our logo would be a single color, so the printing process is very easy. The logo gets burned as a reverse image onto a screen and then laid on top of the bag. Paint is then rolled over the screen, only passing through the area where the reserve image of the logo was not exposed. It turns out that screen printing in Toronto is a very effective way to mass produce a bunch of grocery bags with our logo on them, and the final product looks fantastic.
